Shazhou Red Scenic Area is located in the west of Rucheng County, with Shazhou Yao Village as the core, reaching the Wenming entrance of Xiamen-Chengdu Highway in the northwest and Xiushui Village in the southeast, covering an area of about 3.2 square kilometers.
It’s a national 4A scenic spot and a national Red scenic spot integrating Red tourism, fruit industry, e-commerce and grassroots organizations.
It’s a Red culture heritage site. It’s also home to many Red scenic spots, such as the old site where the story of “Half A Quilt” happened, the former site of the headquarters of the Central Red Army, the former site of the No.4 Hospital of Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, the former site of the Central Soviet National Bank, and the former residences of the old generation of proletarian revolutionaries like Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and Zhu De.
It boasts rich folk culture. Shazhou Village is a provincial historical and cultural village, an ancient Chinese traditional village, and the most beautiful ethnic village. The ancestral halls and old houses are well preserved, including Zhu’s Ancestral Temple, ancient bridge, ancient temples and ancient wells, as well as many villagers’ houses and ancient alleys with traditional features in southern Hunan.
It boasts rich ecological resources. It has a high forest coverage rate. Chushui River and Wenshi River pass through the village. There are many scenic spots, including Panshi Park, Chushui River Scenic Belt, sightseeing and fruit picking garden, and pastoral complex. More than 20 kinds of fruits are planted, such as plum, crustal pear, passion fruit and loquat. It’s a good place for tourism and agricultural experience.
It enjoys convenient transportation, as Xiamen-Chengdu Highway and the provincial No.324 highway pass through the whole scenic area. The intersection of the two highways in Rucheng county greatly helps shorten time and distance between the scenic area and Red tourist attractions like Xiangdong, Jinggangshan, Ruijin in Jiangxi province and the old revolutionary base area in northern Guangdong province.
